Peter Ashcroft - Chief Flying Instructor & Flight Examiner

Peter served with British Telecom for 35 years where he was responsible for various national and local network services and engineering teams.  He joined the Instructional Staff in June 2001 following early retirement.

Peter is a JAA Flight Examiner and Flight Radio Telephony Examiner and conducts some flight tests and all RT tests at the School.  He uses the latest computer operated RT audio-visual simulator.

Peter began his flying career in 1976 at Dundee and qualified as an instructor in 1978.  He instructed part-time at Harwarden and Barton on Beagle Pups and Cessna's.  As a Commercial Pilot he has carried out AOC operations from Manchester and Liverpool until family and business life prevailed.

Peter conducts and specialises with advanced Instrument training at the School.  He services and operates the Frasca Flight Simulator.  The simulator is configured from a simple single engine fixed gear aeroplane to a complex Piper Arrow.

Early retirement brought the opportunity of renewing his aviation career.  He is married to Janet and has two sons - Andrew & Robert.  He enjoys cars, computing and DIY.
